ONKYO TX-RZ840 9.2-CHANNEL NETWORK A/V RECEIVER
9.2-channel TX-RZ840 (215 W / channel, 6 ohms, 1 kHz, 10% THD, 1-channel controlled) function as sturdy, easy-to-use multi-room entertainment control units, perfectly aligned with Dolby Atmos® and DTS: X® surround sound via speaker layouts with up to 7.2.4 channels (with external power) but also good on stereo sources, which they play with electrifying musicality.
The Dolby Surround® and DTS® Neural: X Upmixer also incorporate height speakers when playing back older soundtracks, while the Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer * 1 provides an immersive listening experience by creating virtual surround and treble effects over traditional speaker layouts in Dolby® formats generated.
IMAX® Enhanced and THX® Certified Select ™
The two new Onkyo models are well suited to authentic cinema sound. This is not only ensured by their THX® certification, which was awarded to both models after 2,000 benchmark tests in 75 categories, but also by the IMAX® Enhanced * 1 program. For example, the TX-RZ740 and TX-RZ840 support optimized audio decoding from DTS: X to accurately map the full dynamic range of IMAX cinema soundtracks to digitally remastered “IMAX® Enhanced” content. With meticulous finetuning modeled on the IMAX® theater sound system, the proprietary IMAX audio mix for home theater environments is translated and delivered using a special variant of DTS: X codec technology to deliver the IMAX sound experience to home theater like it does the filmmakers intended.
Handpicked components for Dynamic Audio Amplification
The decision to choose the key components of the two new RC models was made because of their audible and measurable performance and not just because of theoretical characteristics – a resource-intensive design process, but with a subjective and objectively better sound. Discrete, non-phase shifted amplifiers capture a wide frequency response of 5 Hz – 100 kHz. An extruded aluminum heat sink regulates the length and slope of the resonant frequencies and limits vibration, and the redesigned HDMI® board scores points for shorter signal paths and larger, carefully finished surfaces for clean AV signals. The four-core SoC (System on a Chip) is isolated to avoid interference, a reinforced power line withstands a drive power of 4 ohms.
Versatile in every way
Amplified signals can be passed on to speakers in up to three rooms (including the main room) at the same time, whereby different digital or analog sources can be used in each zone (analogue / HDMI / SPDIF / NET / Bluetooth® * 2 in zone 2 and analogue / NET / Bluetooth in zone 3). Alternatively, the same source can be synchronized via the Zone 2 and Zone 3 speaker outputs. With nine channels, separate DACs for zones 2 and 3, and 11.2-channel pre-outs, proud owners have the freedom to choose from a variety of possible speaker layouts – and easily control them via the app.
The two new additions to the RZ series are fully networkable and fit perfectly into a multi-room audio ecosystem. So both are equipped with the integrated Chromecast technology * 3, AirPlay 2, DTS Play-Fi® and FlareConnect ™ * 4 and deliver music via Amazon Music * 5, Spotify® * 5, TIDAL * 5, Deezer * 5 and TuneIn * 5 continues to supported speakers throughout the house. Thanks to Works with Sonos, the TX-RZ740 and TX-RZ840 integrate perfectly into a Sonos Home sound system via the Sonos App * 7, using a Sonos Connect * 6.
Customized settings for every taste and need
The AccuEQ Advance 9-point room acoustics calibration provides a natural articulation of the sound in the listening room. The sound is measured at nine positions to precisely calibrate EQ speakers and subwoofers and remove standing waves from the room. During the calibration process, the system also detects and compensates for background noise, ensuring the most accurate measurement possible.
Several exclusive features also enhance the user experience. Thus, the on-screen display shows the AV input / output information, customers can compare without interruption source data such as HDR format, video resolution, frame rate and audio codec, a new DSP-controlled vocal enhancer via buttons on the remote control or on the Called front panel and allows the raising or lowering of dialogue frequencies in five steps. The listener’s preferred start volume level can be preset for each AV input. If you want to create a moody background atmosphere, you can switch the playback from the front speakers to ceiling speakers via Stereo Assign mode.
The TX-RZ840 and TX-RZ740 call a new quad-core SoC their own. It extends network capabilities, supports the high-speed 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi® * 8 specification, and is compatible with dual-band 802.11b / g / n routers. Both AV receivers are equipped for playback of Hi-Res audio. An AKM multichannel DAC supports 384 kHz / 32-bit digital-to-analog conversion, traces of digital impulse noise from the D / A conversion process are deleted by Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC) on the front L / R channels , The TX-RZ840 is also capable of playing DSD Direct 11.2 MHz * 9. Both models can convert DSD 11.2 / 5.6 / 2.8 MHz * 9 to flawless PCM signals, FLAC, WAV [RIFF], AIFF and ALAC are supported at a resolution of 192 kHz / 24-bit * 10. Vinyl lovers can look forward to a discreet MM phono preamp and pure audio mode for natural analog sound. SPDIF and coaxial digital inputs process lossless audio from a variety of players and devices.
Both models have seven HDMI inputs (one on the front), a main output and a Sub / Zone 2 output * 12 for a projector or a second display. All inputs support 4K / 60p, HDR10, Dolby Vision ™, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), WCG (Wide Color Gamut) to BT.2020 and HDCP 2.2. The TX-RZ840 also has an Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) on the Main Out, which enables HD audio transmission from an eARC-compatible TV to the receiver. Both AV receivers are also generously equipped with analog and digital audio inputs as well as analog video inputs.
